Civil Engineering Technician

Current

Okmulgee County, Oklahoma, United States

Aug 2024 - Present

Soil Conservationist Technician

For over 10+ years, I have enjoyed supervising landowners and contractors to help them correct soil erosion challenges and assist with consulting related to livestock/wildlife water quality through the construction of ponds, terraces, waterways, diversions, grade stabilization structures, pipelines and watering facilities. Each day, I apply tenured experience to supervise construction of practices related to nutrient management or pest/brush management for invasive species of plants, or practices maintaining native grasses or induced grasses. Our organization leverages USDA - NRCS agency resources to utilize rainfall runoff design structures for example that help determine water management and erosion control practices. I understand and operate computer programs to deliver our client products that include ArcGIS 9.2 for various activities involving aerial photos, soils maps, and topographical maps, along with Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel. I also set up and over see the FFA Scholastic Soil and Water Management contest at OSUIT of Okmulgee and help with outreach meetings in the area to better inform local landowners of the programs that the NRCS has to offer. My office duties consist of keeping detailed documentation of conversations and field notes of day to day work and job logs. I am also proficient with laser level work collecting data for engineer based computer programs to figure yardage on engineered structures. Our work helps improves the land to better improve livestock quality for farmers and ranchers across the great state of Oklahoma. Engineering Aide

Huhges County Conservation District

Holdenville, Oklahoma Area

A little about who the Hughes County Conservation District is and goals. This public agency works with local landowners and schools to educate them in the positive effects of soil and water conservation. During my 18 months with this state funded agency I learned the importance of water and soil quality and its effects on the ecosystem surrounding this great state. While during my employment I was in supervision and maintained 39 large watershed lakes with the landscaping repairs as needed. I supervised, operated, and maintained farm equipment such as pasture sprayers, tractors, no-till drill, and grass spriggers. This equipment helped support custom operations to local landowners to maintain soil erosion and winter wheat for livestock winter pastures. I also assisted the office personal with general file keeping and assisted other agencies such as the NRCS with field work and outdoor classrooms at the local schools. I have a passion for helping others understand how to ensure the health, vitality and needs of the soil to help landowners build a prospers system to improve the health of pastures, livestock and wildlife for future generations to come.

Heavy Equipment Operator & Laborer

Pace Contractors

Calvin, Oklahoma

Starting fresh out of Eastern Oklahoma State College, I began my career in the Oil and Gas Industries. Beginning at the bottom as a general laborer spotting utilities for the sole purpose to insure that heavy equipment such as backholes would not damage them when digging in or around them for the crossing of a pipeline. Picked up and delivered equipment, parts and job materials and aided in the construction of fences on ROW’s. I soon was given the opportunity to learn the finer art of operation of heavy equipment. With this new knowledge I began a new chapter in my life as a heavy equipment operator. I went on to operate heavy equipment to clear and open up then clean up pipeline right of ways. Then on to operate heavy equipment such as side booms, track hoes and dozers to construct pipelines of poly, pvc, or steel up to 12 inch dia. and lengths up to 10 miles. I assisted in the installation of municipal and rural water pipelines and meter hook up.
