I provided expert consultancy across all areas of chemical engineering science across BP's research and technology groups, including as part of the leadership of BP Group Research. This involved providing technical oversight and guidance on most petrochemical, energy conversion, and biofuel technology projects being undertaken in BP over this period. I provided coaching, mentoring, and formal training to chemical engineering graduates in these groups, particularly in the UK, and with a strong focus on those considering specialist technical careers. I was part of the leadership of BP group-wide networks covering chemical engineering, computational fluid dynamics, and catalysis and kinetics.I originated and managed several research programmes at universities in the UK and US and am a co-author on a diverse range of research publications. I represented BP on various industry-academic collaborative programmes.

I was the UK industrial representative on EFCE Reaction Engineering working party (which organises major international reaction engineering conference series).

Responsible for BP Chemicals strategy on reaction engineering and dynamic simulation technology, and consultancy on these technologies. Included extensive dynamic simulation work for olefins, polyolefins, and Isopropanol plants; extensive support to purchase of training simulators for ethanol, polyethylene, and isopropanol plants. Extensive reactor modelling of vinyl acetate, polystyrene, and polypropylene plants.Development and delivery of training courses on process control and reaction modelling. Technical input to conceptual process design and other technology development projects. Presentations at the AspenWorld conferences in 2000 and 2002.Led the preparation and submission of BP's Early Development Scheme as a Company Accredited Training Scheme with the Institution of Chemical Engineers. Frequent technical interviewer for UK chemical engineering recruitment, and main point of contact for providing chemical engineering interviewers for recruitment events.

Consultancy within BP Chemicals on the use of simulation, particularly dynamic simulation and customised reactor models, and the design of separation processes (mainly distillation). Extensive work for Acetyls and Solvents & Industrial Chemicals businesses, Innovene Polyethylene Licensing, and also Refining Technology. Peer assists for several businesses.
