I have consistently shown an ability to solve problems in geoscience using innovative ideas implemented quickly and economically. I have both field and office experience, and have both used and programmed computers since 1980.Since 2013 I have been closely involved in a project to use archived lightning data to map resources, and have also done consulting using more conventional techniques. The largest such project was a property evaluation for a company interested in buying into Middle East oil and gas in 2018.In 2020 I had a technical memoir published by the Society of Exploration Geophysicists. Not only did I write this 348 page book, but I also produced all of the maps and graphs included, and generated the final typeset version of the book, meeting detailed specifications set by the publisher. This project demonstrates my capabilities in technical writing as well as in typesetting and page layout.The memoir covers the glaciology field program I led during my twelve months in Antarctica. Apart from the technical accomplishments described in this memoir, our wintering party at Casey had, and as far as I know still has, the distinction of being the only Antarctic wintering party without a single member with any polar experience. The very first expedition to winter in Antarctica, the Belgica Expedition (1897-1899) had one member with prior polar experience, Frederick Cook, who had wintered in Greenland.
