I have been employed within the rail industry since 1978, and have held a number of posts in the last 42 years!I started a Stratford Loco as a Drivers Assistant and passed as a Driver in October 1982. Since then I moved to Guildford as a Driver, Charing Cross and Woking as a Train Crew Supervisor, Driver Manager at Farnham and Woking, Driver Depot Manager at Basingstoke and Salisbury. In January 2014 I joined the Operational Standards team and undertook Platform Train Interface risk assessments on all of the SWT stations we are responsible for. This equated to 458 platform risk assessment. I am currently the Operational Standards Manager for Fleet Depots and Yards, and work closely with the Fleet Depot Managers on any matters involving the operational aspects of a depot or yard. This includes, operational staff assessments and monitoring activities, operational investigations, risk assessments, reviewing/updating and publishing Operational Instructions for depots and yards, operational audits, signal sighting and health and safety visits. I hold an A1 and V1 qualification along with a NEBOSH General Certificate for Health and Safety.
