I have an extensive career in the health care sector including over 10 years of progressive development and achievement in quality and safety and accreditation. I am well regarded for my clinical, management and communication skills as well as the natural ability to work collaboratively at multiple organisational levels. I am experienced in the design, development, management and implementation of large scale and focused strategies to improve patient outcomes and sustainably reduce operating costs.I am a registered nurse and midwife and have held roles in academic and national strategic settings both in New Zealand and Australia. My PhD (Education) was conferred in 2004 through the University of Auckland, and explored the influences on midwifery practice in the care of women during labour and the partnership relationship. I have also completed a Bachelor of Arts, Master of Arts from the University of Auckland. I have gained a Graduate Certificate in Educational Studies (Higher Education) with the University of Sydney, and a Certificate IV in Project Management as part of the Australian Qualifications Framework. Additionally, I am a trained healthcare auditor, and have completed a nine month healthcare improvement advisor programme.
