Maintained a client load of 8 – 13 clients while also conducting screening assessments of new clients referred primarily by Irving Police or Child Protective Services. Clients included adolescents and adults, many of whom were trauma victims and women with parenting concerns.Completed diagnostic assessments and counseled individual clients and families using Multitheoretical Psychotherapy, activity therapy and Attachment Theory. Conducted vocational assessments and provided career counseling to at risk youth. Maintained accurate and current records in Titanium.

Fall semester: Primarily assigned to adolescent inpatient unit. Lead groups of 8 – 19 coed teenagers on topics such as stress, grief, coping skills, and self-harm behaviors; conducted family, school and outside provider contacts; assessed patients and their families for bio-psycho-social evaluations; assisted therapists with individual and family sessions; responsible for keeping accurate notes of all sessions; conducted individual sessions with adults enrolled in the intensive outpatient program.Given “KUDOS” award for going above and beyond in assisting with de-escalations.Spring semester: Rotated between NorthPoint Outpatient Services, Crisis Stabilization Unit, Adult Psychiatric Unit and Exclusively Women’s Inpatient Program. Lead groups of 3 – 12 adults on topics such as recognizing emotions, domestic violence, interpersonal boundaries, thoughts-actions-feelings patterns, and healthy coping skills; assessed patients for bio-psycho-social evaluations; assisted therapists with maintaining charts and developing treatment plans; assisted therapist with pet therapy; conducted individual sessions with adults enrolled in the intensive outpatient program.

I developed a program for pregnant and parenting teens in local high schools that took a holistic approach to helping them make it to graduation. I co-ordinated with local schools to assist with character education; gave sexual education and healthy relationship presentations at several local campuses; assisted teen parents in obtaining needed social services; organized special events such as youth rallies; partnered with local non-profits, clubs and churches; conducted parent education.
