Additional quality improvements through SPC implementation in EFC Hone.
R&D Process Development Engineer
Responsible for new product process development for surface mount EMI Solution ferrites. Co-developed and patented the process used to laminate ferrite filters together in vertically stacked relation. US patent #6,911,889. Resulted in ability to offer custom filter devices with footprint sizes as low as 0.25 inches square by 0.25 inches in height or smaller to customers by combining filters with different operating characteristics i.e. impedance versus frequency, in order to broaden an attenuation frequency band well above 2 GHz.o Resolved long standing quality issue for SMD ferrites, enabling mass production of SMD product line accessing a $1B TAM.
Lead Manufacturing Process Engineer
As Process Development Engineer I was part of the printhead process development group. I was responsible for the development of new manufacturing processes for the next generation of piezo-based printheads. Part of the development effort I was responsible for was meeting performance requirements, meeting yield targets, identifying and reducing cost of manufacturing, improving and assuring product reliability, and meeting volume production scalability goals for the process and project. I successfully transferred processes from development to manufacturing and actively supported the production ramp. One key responsibility was for the development of processes in a clean room compatible environment. On a daily basis I managed appropriate process yield and cycle times goals, maintained process documentation and lead training as the product transfered to manufacturing, and I worked to develop and implement strategies for improving process capabilities. I regularly conducted gage studies to qualify new measurement systems, I was active in problem solving activities by designing and running statistical experiments to identify and understand critical process inputs and how they impact customer-critical outputs.I have experience collaborating across multiple workgroups including vendors and customers.I have excellent communication skills in presenting findings to all levels of the organizationo Identified supply quality issue from major vendor causing lines down. Working at supplier’s site, resolved issue improving quality, restoring production to previous yield. o Implemented Lean Continuous Improvement techniques meeting statistical quality requirements. o Documented all process procedures and changes to satisfy ISO9000 compliance.o Led Operations contributions in cross functional team responsible for launching new products, ensuring a statistically robust manufacturing process and schedule.
Manufacturing Process Engineer
As a manufacturing process engineer, I supported production of Aluminum Boron Carbide substrates for high speed hard discs. My responsibilities included manufacturing line support and troubleshooting for yield improvements, to ensure reliable operation of the burnout furnace and ceramic bake ovens, to create and maintain written operating procedures and safety documentation, I assisted in creating continuous improvement lean manufacturing environment, I was responsible for monitoring process performance and product quality. I worked closely with the operations personnel to help resolve process problems quickly. I provided off-shift support for troubleshooting and problem solving as needed. I also worked successfully with the Research and Development team on process improvement and problem solving projects.o Employed Six Sigma Principles to improve and monitor the manufacturing processes.o Using DOE, optimized process parameters resulting in 40% yield increase o Developed quality and inspection metrics used across corporation including surface profilometry, defect classification and statistical quantification.
