I've edited a book of classical poetry and books on the history of Vashon Island and West Seattle. After traveling to Europe, the Middle East and Africa, I moved to Seattle to write a book about a 20th century woman from West Seattle. The book was lively and beautiful, but filled still with haunting questions about the feminine, so I learned to meditate into thought. I walked the Earth for 11 years to do just this, and to keep my young child connected to the other species and to the land. We relocated to Vashon Island and discovered the cultural redesign of the 8 Shields - an aboriginally-inspired circle structure of equal honoring for all. Back in Seattle, I became a landscaper with a youth crew dedicated to revitalizing Seattle through the planting of small forests and honoring our work and hearts through art performances at our public festivals. As a storyteller, I've trained through through fire with the Wilderness Awareness School, Freehold and Tlingit Native Gene Tagabon. I've honed these skills through entertaining several thousand people in small, live performances at the Smith Tower where I was costumed in a bellhop's uniform and operating a 1914 Otis elevator. From writer to mother to preschool teacher to swimming teacher, I wanted most then to see the adult spirit in a state of wonder. One by one, adults found their way into the Wishing Chair and made a wish. "Legend says you will be married to any dream you want within a year," I told my rapt audience. Sweet fulfillment.

At the Smith Tower, I entertained thousands of tourists - only six at a time! - through what I like to think of as a generous storytelling performance designed to inspire them to believe in the dreams of their hearts.With preschool children, I focused on the legend of Aladdin and the Magic Lamp and allowed my supremely rapt audience to help me create Aladdin's adventures.
