The BTTG name is used for testing, certification and auditing services to the personal protective equipment, and construction products markets. The Shirley name is used for services with a focus on apparel, and specialises in the testing of innocuousness, ecology and microbiology. Shirley is a member of the OEKO-TEX Association. We have four laboratories in the UK, one in Leeds and three in Manchester. Our overseas offices are located in Bangladesh, China, India, Kenya, Pakistan, Singapore and Vietnam.

HSTTS specialised in the testing of apparel and related items for high street retailers. Tests performed included colourfastness, dimensional stability, pilling, Martindale abrasion, seam slippage, tensile, tear, flammability, fibre identification by microscopical examination and chemical analysis, formaldehyde testing, etc. I was also responsible for running and participating in training sessions for Buyers for well known and established retailers.
