23 years experience as a Public Health Nurse starting career as a prenatal instructor and lactation consultant, improving breastfeeding rates and parenting skills for thousands of families. Certified in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) in 2018 while working with the Southwest Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) hub. Role supported acute care and congregate settings to achieve safer care through infection prevention best practices. IPAC support provided to Southwestern Public Health involved case and contact management for reportable diseases, support to community immunization programs and mentorship to nursing students and healthcare providers. I expanded my leadership role outside the public health walls to educate unregulated healthcare providers in infection control, scope of practice, safe, competent and professional care through Fanshawe College. My nursing and infection control journey led me to an opportunity to bring IPAC best practices into the long term care sector. I welcome the challenges, friendship and new opportunities this door has created.
