As well as TechFest Festival, TechFest has a varied and active outreach programme that runs all year round.I write, develop and deliver CfE based outreach in schools and lifelong learning for public events. This involves developing concepts (independently, or working with sponsors or supporters) and curriculum linking, writing demonstrator resources, producing follow up teacher resources, budgeting, ordering stock control for consumables, care of workshop resources, differentiating materials for different audiences and risk assessment. I train demonstrators to deliver workshop contents and in engaging with audiences and HSE. I also undertake events management of TechFest events throughout the year, including coordinating the British Science Association’s CREST Awards acting in Scotland. CREST is the only nationally recognised accreditation scheme for STEM project work. Show less

Eco-Schools is an international programme for environmental management, certification, and sustainable development education for schools. I undertook Green Flag Award assessment visits to nursery, primary, secondary and special needs schools in the north of Scotland and across the rest of Scotland as required.     I joined the RSPB to complete a project undertaken to create and establish links with the RSPB Loch of Strathbeg Nature Reserve and local communities following large scale habitat restoration and upgrading of visitor facilities. I was able to raise awareness about the reserve through organising and managing public events both on the reserve and in the local community. This included doing talks, arranging interactive biodiversity education activities, arranging competitions and exhibitions in schools, the local community (e.g. social clubs, interest groups and Women’s Institute, scouts and community groups) on the reserve. I acted as media liaison for events and carried out live and pre-recorded interviews for press and radio. In addition I recruited, managed and worked with volunteers on the reserve undertaking practical conservation activities with the ranger team and visitor engagement volunteers. As a Field Teacher, I designed and carried out presentations, talks and workshops for delivery in schools as well as field teaching on the nature reserve in different environments from wetland habitat, woodland, gardens, freshwater ecosystems.I undertook in house training on brand guidelines, risk assessment, data protection and children protection/ protecting vulnerable groups.
