About Lesley Reader

I am a communications expert with experience in the private, public and non-profit sectors as well as running my own business. I've spent the last 10 years working in international development in Tanzania. I've been a senior manager for last 5 years with a key role in fundraising, reporting to funders, developing strategic plans and annual reports. This has included programme managememt for a partnership with UNICEF Tanzania through four different projects since 2017, together with coaching and mentoring young Tanzanians on leadership, fundraising, report writing, and facilitation. Before that I developed and managed a portfolio of projects on women’s economic empowerment including NGOs and the Ministry of Industry and Trade with UN Women Tanzania.Now I'm bringing together that experience to work with organisations both within and outside Tanzania to build their capacity in areas such as written communications, fundraising, and project management.Before coming to Tanzania I ran my own business for 6 years, supporting professional business women through coaching and networking, together with co-developing and running career change workshops for the UK Department of Work and Pensions. I've also worked in communications and change management roles in a government agency and fundraising for non-profits in different sectors in the UK.
