In my role for this United Nations Agency focused on empowering and developing women across Tanzania, I developed and managed the portfolio for women’s economic empowerment which included:• Supported the Tanzanian Ministry of Industry and Trade to train its staff on trade and gender; ensured trade policies and strategies support rather than discriminate against women entrepreneurs; establish gender desks at major border crossings to support women cross border traders and ensure improved access to finance for women entrepreneurs.• Supported women cross border traders with information, training and a collective voice through associations and networks enabling them to understand the processes, regulations and tariffs of international trade and earn a sustainable living free from harassment and violence.• Enabled women in remote communities in northern Tanzania to start or develop businesses, take on greater levels of decision making within their families and communities and access legal support for issues such as property and inheritance rights.• Supported a group of rural women in Lindi and Mtwara in Southern Tanzania who trained as solar power technicians for six months in India, through an organisation called Barefoot College . They have provided solar electrification to every household in their communities and are now scaling up to reach other neighbouring communities.• Coordinated the set up of a solar engineer training school in Zanzibar. This resulted in Tanzanian and women from other African countries being trained in the country rather than being sent to India.

I started and developed my own business that provided the following support for professionals:• Executive and personal coaching for professional women and men • Ran the networking groups Chippy Lippys and Ladies that Lunch organising monthly events to connect businesswomen and men to develop themselves and their businesses• Co-designed and managed a project for the UK Department of Work and Pensions which provided workshops for unemployed participants wanting to change career, develop their skills, consider new options and market themselves more effectively. • Co-designed and managed projects for a large housing association and an international NGO providing career change and skills development workshops.Additionally, I was accredited by the International Coaching Federation in 2007 as an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) which I used extensively within my business and in subsequent roles.

The Countryside Agency was a Government Agency from 1999 to 2005. In 2005 it became Natural England and the Commission for Rural Communities. As Change Manager I designed and delivered a strategy for supporting change to a workforce of 650 across 12 sites in England which included one to one coaching to over 80 members of staff; workshops on managing change and team building with over 50 members of staff and project managing a major staff consultation on values and vision for a new organisation.Prior to that I managed a team of over 25 with a budget of £1M for marketing communications including PR, website design and attracting external funding. For my first 5 years with the Countryside Agency (and Countryside Commission as it was before 1999) I managed a team of 8 to identify and maximise opportunities for partnership working. This included successfully influencing lottery funders to allocate grants to environmental projects and disadvantaged rural areas.

This environmental regeneration NGO focused on regenerating former industrial areas of the urban fringe into community spaces. My main achievements in my role as corporate fundraiser were that I:• Successfully secured lottery funding of over £21 million and coordinated regular reporting• Managed the fundraising strategy including research to identify potential donors, marketing proposals and the development and management of the fundraising database.
