Special Events ManagerJuvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Fort Worth Feb 2008 - May 2010Dallas/Fort Worth AreaAs the Special Events Manager for JDRF, I was responsible for creating, organizing, implementing, and producing four major annual events to raise crucial funds for type 1 diabetes research. Our Tarrant County Walk to Cure Diabetes took place in the fall and hosted over 5,000 participants. It consistently produced in excess of $600,000. Our Parker County Walk to Cure Diabetes was created under my direction and in its first year grossed just under $60,000 and also took place in the fall. The annual Promise Ball/Gala took place in the spring and entertained over 600 individuals with a silent, super silent, live auction, live entertainment, and a special fund a cure portion for the evening. In FY09 it successfully produced over $855,000 in gross revenue, placing it $100,000 over FY08. The Tee Up to Cure Diabetes golf tournament, which was held in the summer, was also created under my term of service and successfully produced over $30,000. I was expected to exceed national budgets, which encompass double digit growth, while maintaining less than a 15% expenditure ratio on total gross revenue for each event. Daily activities associated with my position included but were not limited to the following: event logistics, volunteerrecruitment and organization, cost analysis of goods and services, contract/ proposal creation and negotiation, media and PR responsibilities, donor and vendor relationship building, corporate sponsorship, budget preparation, event wrap up analysis, and any further skills needed to produce a highly successful event.
