I coordinate and manage the online application platform for 19 of Kansas City's schools. SchoolAppKC creates a more equitable and accessible way to apply to schools with a simple 8 question application. Separating out the enrollment from the application process and making a more streamlined way for our most in need families to apply to multiple schools in one platform.

Being the Director of Programs involves working with my team to fill informational voids between families, the community, and schools. I am also responsible for maintaining collaborative community relationships and bring key information about schools to families. Our team helps them understand their K-12 options in Kansas City. Responsibilities include design and implementation of multiple parent, family and community programs throughout the year, including our annual City School Fair School Saturday. We also host a series of school tours.

Working with a multi-cultural staff in one of Kansas Cities most high performing charter schools to recruit students was the role of a lifetime. Helping families understand the impact of an immersion learning setting on the brain and how it makes kids better test takers and critical thinkers was exciting. Meeting new families, helping them make informed decisions and creating a beautifully diverse student body, were also key parts of my role.
