I retired after almost 30 years of teaching middle school Mathematics in June 2022. I am now working part time in 7th grade mathematics tutoring students in preparation for the NC end of grade math test.
-Developed with a team of teachers the 7th grade Mathematics canvas course for our 7th grade Robeson County teachers to be implemented for teacher use in 2021-2022 school year.-Developed and implemented with a team of teachers the pacing guide for 7th grade mathematics.-Develop and implement 7th and 8th grade mathematics lesson plans, which incorporate best teaching practices in Mathematics, manipulative and hands-on instructions, ensuring that each student is able to retain, process and understand the mathematical curriculum .-Developed unit based projects that are centered on real-world situations to show students how math correlates with everyday life. -Incorporated various researched based programs and various technologies in the classroom including canvas, schoolnet, iready, study island, flocabulary smartboard technology, quizezz, quizlet, teacher-made materials, microsoft software, graphics calculator-Utilized resource time(teacher planning), after-school tutoring in and outside the school environment to help struggling students succeed; incorporated materials tailored to meet the diverse needs, resulting in student growth on the end-of-grade state assessment and improvement in overall class grade average.-Tracked student performance on Benchmark test and EOG test.-Created a learning environment to meet the needs of students based on their academic performance on state wide testing.-Monitored various extracurricular activities including school games, dances, fall festival, math night, etc. Attended all staff meetings and professional development workshops/online coursework.-Served on various committees as a member and chairperson-Served as a Beta Club Sponsor
