About Leslie Pendleton, Ph.D.
I am a higher education professional with 16+ years of experience. As the founding Director of the Machen Florida Opportunity Scholars Program at the University of Florida, my passion and expertise led our campus to build a successful program to support, fund, and graduate first-generation college students.Today, I lead a team within UF Advancement who is focused on raising support for the Division of Student Life, Undergraduate Affairs, and the Machen Florida Opportunity Scholars Program. I engage with Gators everyday and through my work remain connected to our 3,500+ Machen Florida Opportunity Scholar Alumni who are thriving in their lives and careers. I am energized by building teams and strategies that impact organizational priorities. In fact, all of my positions at UF have been newly created and/or expanded roles that I have been the first to grow and develop. As a retired college athlete, I have a strong internal drive and am motivated by metrics and goals. My work occasionally allows the opportunity to teach and publish; two things I really enjoy! I most recently taught a graduate level course titled, Student Affairs Administration and Finance, in the Spring of 2019 and I regularly provide guest lectures and facilitate internal training sessions. Over the years, I've published several blogs and have a few research publications in process with colleagues both at UF and across the country. I have additional experience facilitating workshops with work teams and student leaders seeking to learn more about their strengths (Gallup Organization). My top 5: Strategic, Maximizer, Includer, Responsibility, Learner. Life is all about people and relationships and I look forward to expanding my network to include you! PS - Go Gators!
