About Leslie Tsen
I am a well-rounded ecology graduate with field and research experiences in wildlife conservation, animal behavior, and macroinvertebrates & insect identification. I also pull ideas and techniques out of scientific journals while filtering out technical jargons to educate the public on topics in life sciences and animal care methods (e.g., reptiles, birds, amphibians, fishes, small mammals, corals, insects and other invertebrates) based upon scientific facts and species' unique biology to debunk common believes. The basis of my writings revolves around animals' actual physiological, behavioral, and biological needs. Some of my past work and intern experiences have provided me with hands-on experience in handling both wild and domestic species, such as bats, woodrats, aquatic macroinvertebrates from various phyla, and companion species from various classes. I have since published 50+ educational articles on various species, animal care, life sciences as well as natural history topics. In my earlier position, I was writing e-learning modules for international schools and science centers through an interactive mobile learning app. After that, I was employed as the lead instructional designer to design and streamline learning processes in a corporate setting. Currently, I co-manage and implement conservation projects through a wildlife trade monitoring NGO and building up my proudest creation yet - Natural History Unfolds.I am also broadly interested in various fields - natural history, paleobiology, conservation, environmental education, and the processes involved in and the sigificance of taxonomy and systematics in aiding conservation down to the species level. This makes me a curious learner and an adaptable candidate who is willing to take on many roles, as reflected on my resume below.
