My professional focus over the past 30 years has been in education and promoting human potential. I have served as a project coordinator and contributor on Project Pediatric PROMIS (Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System), funded by the National Institutes of Health. The project, led by the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), focused on improving the conceptualization and measurement of children’s health, well-being, and learning outcomes. The project involved development of valid, useful, and efficient tools for the measurement of children’s academic and health-related strengths and weaknesses. The Center for School Success (centerforschoolsuccess.org) used information gained from that project to develop a holistic health and learning screener and team delivery model. The program, Rx for School Success, was designed to identify school-related risk and protective factors that impact health through a screener administered during well child visits. Integrated coaching is offered by a team of specialists comprising behavioral health and learning specialists. These two efforts closed when I retired in 2020.From 2007-2016 I was an instructor for Plymouth State University and Southern New Hampshire University. My colleagues at the Center for School Success and I created a Master in Education and Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies (CAGS) Neurodevelopmental Approach to Teaching program delivered in partnership with Plymouth State University. I have also co-designed several courses for and been an instructor at the Harvard University Extension School since 2012. My other vocational pursuits include serving as the President of the Academy for Brain Health and Performance (www.brainhealthandperformance.com), a public benefits corporation, committed to creating the gold standard in brain health, performance and wellness programming and services. I also serve as President of the Brain Health Initiative, Inc. (www.brainhealthinitiative.org), a 501(c)(3) non-profit, that uses a cutting-edge approach to protecting brain health, promoting brain performance, and preventing and fighting brain illness across the lifespan. The BHI is building brain healthy communities, cultures that promote brain healthy lifestyles, foster protective factors, and address risk factors, thereby improving brain health and optimizing brain performance outcomes, while addressing disparities at the individual, family, and community level.  I have also been an educational consultant, grant coordinator and freelance writer.
