Dr. Leslie J. Gabel-Brett is an experienced, senior leader and activist who has been working for equality for LGBT people, women and girls and for income equality, equal access to healthcare and social justice for more than four decades. She held a leadership position at Lambda Legal, the nation's oldest and largest nonprofit legal organization fighting for the rights of LGBT people and people living with HIV, and served before that as the Executive Director of the Connecticut Permanent Commission on the Status of Women, an agency within the Connecticut state legislature. She also served as the Chairperson of the Connecticut state human rights commission, a position to which she was appointed by two successive governors. Gabel-Brett holds a doctorate in anthropology.In 2016, Gabel-Brett co-edited "Love Unites Us: Winning the Freedom to Marry in America," published by The New Press.
