Profile bio

About Leslie Madrid

I am an instructional designer and eLearning developer, who creates innovative courses to help adults learn.I have always loved helping people learn. From playing school with my cousin as a child, to tutoring family and friends, and then becoming an elementary teacher and eventually a STEM teacher, a huge part of what makes me most happy is helping others learn. With the shift from ILT to vILT in K-12 education a few years ago, I found myself expanding my idea of what helping others to learn can look like. Now I enjoy helping others learn by designing and developing engaging learning solutions for adult learners and businesses.I pair my previous knowledge from my work in education with adult learning principles to solve problems and create learning solutions for the companies with whom I work. I believe training can be engaging and use tools such as Articulate Rise and Storyline to create the type of courses that reflect that belief. My designing process follows the ADDIE/SAM models in which I work with subject matter experts and other stakeholders to design the best learning solution. My learning solutions are guided by data gathered through conducting learner analysis and needs assessments in order to get specific learning objectives that are used to craft creative and effective learning. In my free time I love exploring the world in which we live whether that is through travel, a trip to the museum, building a new set of Legos with my sons, or diving deep into learning new things. As a Gold Award recipient Girl Scout, I learned the value in helping others and try to do so whenever I can. This sometimes means volunteering to sew skirts for a non-profit dance organization or being a sponsor on a field trip for my son’s school. Designing and developing instruction is one of my favorite ways to use my skills to help others. I would love to connect with you to discuss my journey within the learning community and how I can help you create innovative training that can help you meet your organization’s goals.
