From January 12 through January 22, 2006, the Birth Arts Council, an ad hoc grassroots organization, presented a festival entitled Defining Moments: An Exploration of Birth Through the Arts, in partnership with the Firehouse Theatre Project, a nonprofit theatre in Richmond, VA.The Birth Arts Council’s mission was “to facilitate artistic exploration and public discourse that acknowledges the physical, emotional, spiritual and social impact of pregnancy and birth and raises community awareness of this major life passage.” Festival events included a theatre production of the play Birth, a visual art exhibit, film screenings, dance performances, panel discussions, and workshops that supported this mission. The BAC received a grant from the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities in support of the panel discussion portion of the festival. Audience satisfaction with Defining Moments programming scored a 9.1 score on a ten-point scale.Steering Committee members: Katie Adams Parrish, Valley Haggard, Hallie Lacy, Leslie Lytle, and Molly Lavelle.

Coordinated massage therapy programs for a hospital-based mind/body medicine program. Researched, designed, and oversaw inpatient and outpatient programs. Supervised five staff therapists. Assisted with marketing and outreach through writing, public speaking and interfacing with physicians and other healthcare professionals. Developed and taught a highly acclaimed prenatal/postnatal yoga program.

Co-managed a clinically modeled massage therapy and movement re-education small group practice. Assessed client needs, administered therapeutic massage and movement re-education techniques; developed, coordinated and presented workshops; managed internal communications, client protocols, and client information systems. Recruited, trained, and supervised therapists and office staff. Created highly successful marketing campaigns, including logo and brochure development, and quarterly newsletter. Played instrumental role in changing Richmond city ordinances regulating massage therapy.
