About Leslie Orchard

My desire to learn and develop others, has allowed me to build the strong and meaningful relationships and networks I have needed to be able to thrive in often very complex environments. The last few years have provided me with significant personal and professional growth which I have found very rewarding. The intense people management activities, budgeting requirements, strategy development and implementation responsibilities that come with heading up a business unit of approximately 240 people, provided a steep learning curve that I relished. Managing through transformational change, though not easy, allowed me the opportunity to cultivate my strong respect for and curiosity in people - their abilities and their differences. This combined with my life experiences has certainly played a part in the successful outcomes I achieved. It may also help that my ideal working environment includes variety!While I do like variety, I find that I am also process and outcome driven. This has been of great benefit in my many operational based roles and project positions, particularly when process improvement, efficiency and attention to detail is required. Another key attribute I credit for my successes in these areas is of course effective communication. I am known for my ability to simplify complexity for others and help to translate this into achievable goals and outcomes.Working on a resource limited, major transformational project helped me to hone my communication skills even further, and in a more strategic manner, when I assisted with both the development and delivery of the communications strategy for the project.Having been involved with numerous restructures, mergers, change programmes and major technology implementations over the years, I find that I am quite resilient and adaptable. I can face adversity head on but with genuine care and professionalism, particularly in highly stressful situations.
