I am a full-time Career Pathway Coach under the Career Readiness and Success department for Youth Guidance. I provide service planning and follow-up support that enables post-secondary success to a cohort of 40 students across 4 Chicago Public High Schools. I facilitate work readiness workshops and group sessions based on the @Work curriculum to increase Social Emotional Development (SEL) and youth's advocacy skills as they relate to career readiness and success. I also contribute to the development and implementation to integrate workforce preparation into the Becoming a Man (BAM) and Working on Womanhood (WOW) programs. I also collaborate interdepartmentally to revise the @Work curriculums to update postsecondary readiness and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) content and research. One of the projects as part of my position, was helping create Blueprint to Becoming (B2B) that was launched beginning of the 2023-2024 school year.

Youth Outreach Services is a nonprofit organization that targets high need communities in Chicago to promote the safety, wellbeing, and self-worth of every child. YOS provides critical services to communities, youth, and their families to inspire positive development through a variety of child welfare, counseling, juvenile justice, and prevention services. I conducted prescreen assessments to clients needing services for the Problematic Sexual Behavior Program, Multi-Systemic Family Therapy Program, Diversion Program, Prevention Program, Counseling, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Program. Appropriate referrals were made through phone inquires. I conducted monthly surveys to clients to ensure efficiency by the counselors and programs. I conducted reports through the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services to verify clients' insurance eligibility.

I worked one on one and in groups to fulfill students’ Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals. I assisted students in classrooms with behavioral, academic, or socio-emotional challenges. In the Special Education Program, I supported special education students by helping them transition throughout the school day, academic, or socio-emotional learning. I communicated with LADSE, Grade level team, teachers, and other disciplines to monitor progress, modify approaches, and evaluations for students with Individualized Education Program goals.I helped creat a social developmental study for an IEP evaluation. I created a research based curriculum for a small group for 8 weeks.

Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) is the official honor society for community colleges. PTK recognizes the academic achievement of college students and provides opportunities for its members to grow as scholars and leaders. PTK selects students based off a 3.5 grade point average or higher and invitation through their institution’s chapter. As a Secretary, I helped host and create Phi Theta Kappa events at Morton College. I recruited and enrolled new members through events. I kept ongoing communication to potential eligible students and supported their onboarding journey.
