About Leslie Peet, Ph.D., Mlis

One of my goals in becoming a librarian was to help patrons find the information they need to improve their lives, satisfy their curiosity or just have a good read. I want to connect people to information and ensure that the information is freely available. Out of the several careers I have had, this one feels like the most exciting because I have the opportunity to help patrons expand their knowledge and explore the world.

    I was hired to work on the History Project to celebrate the centennial of the Park District in 2019. My job responsibilities are to create an archives, digitize the material, and create a website for the material, as well as write a collection policy, give presentations on the History Project, and apply for grants. I gave a presentation on my work at GEPD at the IAPD Annual Conference in January 2013.
