Volunteer
Baltimore Grand Prix-2011
I began supporting the BGP early on as a promotions volunteer. I had the basic task of showing up to event locations and promoting the race. This involved knowing details particular to the track layout, Baltimore City's entertainment offerings, and general IRL/racing information. I also assisted with the unloading and loading of the display car at events in addition to setting up the display area in accordance with BGP guidelines and event location regulations. I took on additional responsibility by offering my support services to BGP staff as the race weekend approached. This involved running errands, delivering product, and some general office support. The highlight of my involvement was during race weekend. I was tasked to the Ceremonies Group that was primarily responsible for coordinating stage events, opening/closing ceremonies and VIP support. I had the privilege to work with the security and office staff of Lt. Governor Brown and General Colin Powell during their involvement of the race. During that assignment I was responsible for credential assignment, advance route planning and communicating event schedule particular to their duties. I was also tasked with providing their staff with additional support as needed and that usually involved running errands and communicating information with the appropriate race official or BGP staff.
