I manage a unit which includes two buildings: the criminal court and the provincial offences court. Both are located in Welland. I supervise five constables, ten special constables, one civilian, and an assortment of temporary special constables.

I spent four years as a patrol sergeant in Grimsby, followed by another four years in Welland. I worked with a lot of special and interesting people.This was my first experience with full time supervision of a large group of people, and it was a good learning experience.

Mentored in the renowned OPP E-Crimes Unit in 2005, then built the NRPS Tech Crime Unit from the ground up. This job involved forensic examination of computer hard drives, cell phones, and other electronic devices. Spent several years as a guest instructor at the Canadian Police College, mostly on the subject of NTFS File System forensics, but also on the Windows Registry and Encase.

During this period, I was assigned to the Fraud Unit. I investigated a number of interesting cases, including employee embezzlement, and securities fraud. I was an early adopter of computer and Internet technology, and this interest led me from investigating Fraud cases into a position where I was tasked with creating a Tech Crime Unit for the police service.

I began my policing career in 1988 at the age of 23, and have been with the Niagara Regional Police since then. My time in uniform includes stints in St. Catharines, Grimsby, six months in a detective position, and a return to St. Catharines before going into the Criminal Investigations Branch.
