Senior Planning Associate and Southern California Planning Lead at Alta Planning + Design with 15 years of experience in the multimodal transportation and community development fields. Over the last six years, Les has managed complex, large-scale projects including the independent evaluation of the Federal Transit Administration (FTA)’s Accelerating Innovative Mobility (AIM), Integrated Mobility Innovation (IMI), and Mobility on Demand (MOD) Sandbox programs encompassing dozens of individual projects. Les also served as Project Manager or Contributing Author for over 20 United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) publications. Further, he led long-range transportation planning studies for diverse state and regional governments such as the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency and the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments. In New York State, he provided strategic, technical, and task management support for the nation’s largest transportation demand management program and co-led planning and outreach for an e-bike lending, incentives, and infrastructure program spanning five municipalities with high concentrations of underserved residents. Les also led the development of Florida DOT’s Safe Routes to School Toolkit update at the Center for Health and the Built Environment, conducted pedestrian and bicycle facility performance evaluations at Renaissance Planning, and supported adoption of bikeshare and Vision Zero while at Transportation Alternatives in New York City. Les has dedicated his career to advancing safe, sustainable, and efficient multimodal transportation systems for all.
