FitoStinger is born with the aim of being an integral service focused on the treatment and control of the Pine Processionary Caterpillar (Thaumetopoea pityocampa)’s plague, although it could be extended to other plagues. It uses a combination of two technologies. On one hand, the use of an RPAS (Remotely Piloted Aircraft System), or drone, this would allow us to access those nests located on the higher branches of trees. On the other hand, the drone is equipped with the “FitoStinger” device which consists of a lance as an applicator for the plant-protection agent, which will neutralise the caterpillars within the nest.The project is incubated in the ESA (European Space Agency) and will be focus on the development of a system that allows it to operate semi-autonomously in the first phase and fully-autonomously on the final phase.
