In 2006, I took a job as an entry-level field technician at a small regional distributor of wide format graphic printers and supplies. At the time, I felt it was just a job to hold me over until I graduated from college. Little did I know, this job would turn into a career that I’m excited to be apart of everyday.Without any previous experience other than owning a Roland SP-540V, I was hired as an entry-level field technician. I was hired to troubleshoot, fix, and maintain wide format inkjet printers. Quickly, the pieces all started to come together. I became a technical resource in which my customers could rely on. About 2 years into field service, I was promoted to sales and that where the fun began.As I began to build relationships with my customers, I became their go-to-guy. As a salesperson, I would sell, service, and support my customer’s printers along with all the ink and medias that went through it. I out grew the potential that the company had to offer and moved on to a new challenge at Intelicoat Technologies as Regional Sales Manager for the Western United States.As RSM for Intelicoat Technologies, I managed over 15 accounts in 11 states in the Western US. Going from distribution to manufacturing was a completely different ball game. I worked hard to gain the mindshare of my resellers and frequently made joint sales calls with them. My determination and passion lead to me being recruited by one of my distributors, Piedmont Plastics. In 2014, I joined Piedmont Plastics as West Coast Graphics Specialist.A short stint at Mimaki USA allowed me to follow my passion to be around some of the best wide format printers on the market. Although I only spent a very short time at Mimaki, the time spent there taught me some very valuable career lessons.Now in my 16th year of working in the wide format industry, I find myself with a small, but great team at Contra Vision North America, the original inventors of One-Way Graphics.
