I am currently working within a learning disability supported living service which aims to support adults to live healthy fulfilling lives. In my role as coordinator, I manage a small team of support workers to ensure that the service runs smoothly and successfully. My role includes tasks such as managing rotas, completing supervisions and appraisals, completing support plans and risk assessments, as well as communicating with other professionals and stakeholders. I am also required to do more hands on support work such as personal care, helping to manage finances, and support in the community.

I work within supported living for people with Learning Disabilities providing them with one to one support to encourage them to have active and fulfilling lives. Responsibilities include carrying out personal care, the administration of prescribed medication, keeping check of the individuals finances, and protecting them from potential abuse.

I took on a temporary position as a team leader, developing on from my support worker role as well as spending one day a week completing office work. This involved helping the supported living manager with managing a small team of support workers. My role involved completing rotas, carrying out one to ones, and making sure all paperwork such as support plans and risk assessments were well written and up to date. The role also involved attending regional management meetings, as well as holding small core team meetings and larger group team meetings.

I have worked casually on a deli counter within a Farm shop local to my home, between my studies at Lincoln university. I believe this temporary work has allowed me to develop employability skills, such as interaction with customers, following instructions carefully especially when working with potentially dangerous equipment, and developing my initiative when faced with new experiences.
