About Leul Tesfaye
During my Master’s program in Computer Science at Cornell University, I conducted research at the Cornell Program of Computer Graphics (PCG) lab, where I developed expertise in applying robotics to the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) sector. My thesis focused on using quadruped robotics to scan construction sites, ensuring components are placed within their intended areas and tolerances, and identifying any missing or behind schedule. My research was conducted in simulation using Isaac Lab, part of Omniverse, and involved simulating sensors and construction environments, as well as using reinforcement learning to train quadruped locomotion. This work required proficiency in Python, PyTorch C++, Omniverse extensions, Ubuntu scripting, and Robot Operating Systems (ROS1 & ROS2).At my prior job at Burke Neurological Institute, I worked on using a consumer-grade eye tracker to quantitatively evaluate human eye performance, addressing the currently subjective nature of vision assessments in medical settings. My passion lies in applying technology to improve the quality of life, whether in the biomedical or construction space. I am particularly passionate about leveraging robotics in research and industrial domains, where I can contribute to large-scale projects and continue to innovate.
