So that’s it. I worked as the Creative Head of Volkswagen team until 14 called my number.

Why did i want DDB this much? The answer is as easy as playing “Oblivius” on guitar: Volkswagen. I think, theirs (or should i say ours) is the most distinctive tone of voice in the history of advertising. It’s like a very smart guy like Julien Casablanca, talking calmly and making perfect sense without trying to outsmart you… Surely that tone is hard but if you achieve this, there is no chance to do mediocre work. I hope i haven’t done any too.

Yenidalga was cool but “i didn’t leave my hometown for this” i was telling to myself. So I got into Artgroup, one of the local big ones at that time. Then, something amazing happened. I wrote an ad for Turkish Airlines featuring Kevin Costner. The client liked it, Kevin Costner liked it and here i was in an airplane shaking Mr. Costner's hand. "Howlin' for you" was playing in the background (or in my head) and i finally had the portfolio to knock the door of the agency that i was howlin' for, for a long time: Medina Turgul DDB (DDB Istanbul).

2005 has been a very fertile year for rock music but not for me. I came from Ankara to Istanbul to create huge campaigns but I ended up creating a huge hole in my pocket as I've spent 4 months without a job. Then a little, brave agency called Yenidalga (New Wave) saved me from going back to Ankara. Foo Fighters' "Best of You" was still hot. So I put on my headphones, unleashed Dave Grohl and gave the best of me for this little shop.
