Worked in Western Digital Corporations ESS Memory Systems Development Platform (MSDP) team designing and supporting internal tools to aid in the characterization and verification of NAND flash. • Verified and validated all tool designs and product tests to ensure they were repeatable. • An important aspect of SSD NAND flash development is being able to characterize the flash at 85 degrees Celsius. SSD drives are unable to operate at this elevated temperature in a convection oven. For this reason I designed multiple thermally conductive test fixtures capable of evenly heating flash packages up to 85 degrees Celsius while also keeping the other PCB components cool enough to operate properly. o Designed the electrical system needed to calibrate, power and control each system.o Created a GUI in Python and Visual Basic that could communicate with each NAND flash, display and feedback temperature values, and calibrate the heater unit. o Used SolidWorks to design each mechanical heater fixture to seat onto a custom-test PCB and evenly load each flash package socket. • Performed root cause analysis to debug, troubleshoot hardware and provide technical solutions and/or improvements to fix the problem.• Supported local and international teams by diagnosing and repairing testers/tools. • Documented all designs and trained engineers to ensure proper usage and safety.• Served as project lead and worked with multiple vendors in a bid to design, assemble and support test unit racking systems.• Created all necessary BOMs, drawings, videos needed to get quotes for builds and worked closely with the vendor on DFM. Worked with local and international vendors in the parts manufacturing and assembly of components.

Fully designed: mechanical components in SolidWorks, electrical circuit, and PCB layout in Cadence/Allegro and code/GUI in Visual Basic. • Designed and ran thermal tests to validate/qualify a new engineering plastic material for standard SSD form factor drive packaging.
