I feel I may have been born to be a troubleshooter. When I was younger, my brothers and I found a bunch of Atari videogame systems and tried to make them work. The controllers weren't working. We must have gone through six controllers before I finally piped up to my older brother "Hey, maybe it's the Atari..." Turned out I was right, and we were soon neck-deep in retrogaming. As years went on, I became the go-to guy among family and friends for getting the various electronics in our lives to work.I joined the Marines and received training in computer networking and Information Technology, but primarily my use of the knowledge was in computer troubleshooting. I would doggedly follow through on the computers until I could find the solution. If I couldn't find it, I would get help and learn from them.In the years after my term in the Marines, I have tried my hand at construction work and archaeological survey. These jobs gave me an appreciation of hard work as well as what goes into the development of our communities.Lately, I have been working in a call center, largely in technical support fields on various contracts. While working in CRM Support, I have gained a better understanding of the business world and its demands, while working support for cellular phones, I have come to really exercise my troubleshooting skills.A friend once described my approach as something he rarely sees in people. I employ a reactionary approach to my troubleshooting. I use the methods that have worked before or I am instructed to use, but I also maintain a backlog of different approaches I have either researched as having helped or I have had the pleasure to see resolve an issue. I can estimate the capabilities of alternate forms of issue resolution quickly, and I am known for getting prompt results.Currently, I am using my GI Bill benefits to attend college in pursuit of an Information Technology A.A.S. degree.
