Greetings! I am a native to Arizona. Growing up in the desert in Tucson I developed a great appreciation and attraction to water at a young age. After all water is life in the desert...and everywhere else! I was amazed by the power of water to transform the Sonoran desert during the summer monsoon rain season. I enjoyed my summers growing up camping and communing with the pine trees and trout of Arizona's White Mountains. My love affair with water continued into my career and life experiences. As an undergraduate I studied environmental engineering (among the pines in Flagstaff) and learned about the methods for obtaining clean water and sanitation. I learned that there were many people in the world without access to the same basic need of clean water and adequate sanitation that I took for granted. I decided to become a United Stated Peace Corps volunteer after graduation. My two year volunteer experience in the Peace Corps changed both my perspective of the world and me forever. I was able to use what I learned in engineering to help several communities in Central America gain access to clean water. Like most meaningful experinces in life it was a challenging experience at many levels, a mixture of excitement, joy, sadness, and a good amount of both personal and professional successes, failures, dissapointment, and satisfaction. To this day I feel that I personally gained and was positively transformed by the people and experiences in Honduras more than I could have ever hoped and imagined. I am forever greatful for the experience. Encourage your friends and family to join or support the Peace Corps!Ever since returning from the Peace Corps I have been fortunate. I still live in the state of my birth, I have continued to work in the water industry as a professional engineer, and I have continued to be a part of supporting the global mission to provide adequate clean water and sanitation to all with Water For People.
