At De Helling I was responsible for coördinating all club shows. I booked and promoted shows, worked out concepts, maintained relationships with artists, managers and agents, dealt with marketing and communication, etc. etc.

I (co-)organised, produced, promoted and DJ’ed for several musical concepts. I was co-founder of the bi-monthly Bright event at Poppodium EKKO. The central concept to Bright was bringing up and coming and forward thinking House and Bass acts to the city of Utrecht. Since early 2012 we have thus hosted names such as Dusky, George Fitzgerald, Bondax, Ejeca, Mala In Cuba, Benji B and loads more, all acts that have since outgrown a small night such as Bright. I was also co-founder of Overdreven Festival, a locally oriented music, food and arts festival in Utrecht.Other past and present events I was or am involved in include all Utreg Massive events (Tivoli de Helling, Tivoli Oudegracht, Winkel van Sinkel, City Hall), Connex (Club Poema), Polaroid (ACU), Tropique (Lust), Deadly Rhythms (City Hall), Cultural Evolution (Chez Be Be) and the Utrecht editions of Colors (Tivoli de Helling).Besides this I DJ’ed as El Maria. Over the years I played across all major clubs in Holland and in countries such as the UK, Germany, Italy, Belgium and Croatia.

Late 2011 I started as a researcher/consultant at Labyrinth Onderzoek & Advies, doing research and consulting on socio-spatial issues. Over the years I have been involved in numerous projects concerning topics such as social housing, retail, housing for elderly, office and commercial premises, student housing, management and maintenance of public space, social cohesion, provincial reorganisation, resident participation in development, consumer segmentation, multi-language/-ethnic surveying, car sharing, microfinance, election exitpolls and migrants regularisation.

After my internship I was offered a project based assignment for the Media4ME trajectory. Media4ME is a collaborative venture of Mira Media, ClickF1 and the Vrede van Utrecht. I worked on researching, facilitating and initiating neighborhood media in the locality of Overvecht, Utrecht.

After my graduation I started as an intern at the Utrecht based cultural institution Vrede van Utrecht. I was involved in the development of a number of local cultural interventions, primarily aimed at neighborhood development and media, cultural empowerment and art in public space. Two of the projects I helped manage were the neighborhood media trajectory Media4ME and Tafelbos.

For my master thesis I conducted research on the involvement of Dutch housing corporations in the cultural sector. I compared the situation in the cities of Rotterdam and Utrecht, whereby I researched the views of corporations on culture as well as two separate cultural interventions in both cities. The idea was developed in cooperation with the Centre for Visual Arts Rotterdam, who supported me in the research. Final thesis here: http://bit.ly/oQBSPs. Utreg Massive was a collective of musicians and other artists in and around Utrecht, actively promoting electronic music (in particular drum & bass and breakbeat) in the Netherlands. Organising numerous events in and around the city of Utrecht. Released two CD's.
