Virginia Defense Force volunteer. Originally served as the Division Chemical Operations NCO before transferring and becoming a 1st Sgt in one of the VDF Aviation Companies until May 2012. In Dec of 2012 became a WO1 and the Division Safety Officer (a CW2 effective May 2016).Have taken some of the Army Safety publications and rewritten them for the Virginia Defense Force to reflect state safety and health requirements and to remove any CBRNE / wartime programs that would not apply. Several safety-related VDF publications have been released concerning severe weather safety guidelines, thermal injuries, additional duty safety officer/NCOs, and an overall safety program (based on the Army's 385-10 series).Currently, the only assigned Safety position in the VDF's manning document. Performing safety intros for personnel being assigned as the Additional Duty Safety Officer or NCO for their local VDF unit.

General industrial hygiene to include: asbestos (inspector, management planner, monitor and project design), lead (risk assessor and project designer), and indoor environmental quality assessments / mold inspector (was licensed in Virginia before state deleted licensing requirements)..Noise surveys (general, octave band, and noise dosimetry), industrial hygiene air sampling (area and personal), rf radiation / electro-magnetic radiation (EMR) surveys (occasional ionizing radiation survey), and ventilation system assessments. Industrial exhaust ventilation system (general and local exhaust ventilation systems) evaluations to measure performance.Primary individual performing industrial hygiene air sampling (especially welding fumes and volatile chemicals). Observes operations with eye towards correcting problems / improving processes to reduce worker exposures wherever possible.
