SDE on EC2’s control plane. Responsible for new instance types and features. My job is to convert high-level customer-facing components, namely instances, EBS volumes, and VPCs, to their lower-level counterparts, virtual machines, virtualized block devices, and virtualized network adapters, at enormous scale. I love working at the intersection of distributed systems, virtualization and large-scale software engineering.

I ran a bespoke software development shop, owning the whole process, from requirements elicitation to delivered product. Employed both full-timers and subcontractors. - Created FIX-speaking Execution Management System (EMS) for hedge fund customer. Successfully integrated with several exchanges, brokerages and other intermediaries. - Qualified FIX engine against strenuous third party requirements. - Adapted to non-standard semantics used by counterparties. - Convinced counterparties to adopt WireGuard, which simplified ops and made the transition to remote work seamless. - Developed SaaS in the financial compliance space, and custom Excel plugins for same customer. - Built ETL workflows to extract data from terabytes of unstructured PDFs, savings tens-of-thousands of billable professional services hours for customer.
