About Levi O'Brien

I have an extensive knowledge of trees, plants and insects, and am happiest when sharing my knowledge and passion with others. I’m on faculty at the New York Botanical Garden, and give tree tours and talks in NYC, the Hudson Valley and tri-state area. I was a Biology, Dendrology and Entomology teaching assistant at SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry, where I’m currently pursuing my Master’s in Forest Pathology. In my spare time, I study wood and greenwood craft.

In addition to my public tours, I’ve been a guest instructor and led programs for arboretums, botanical gardens, community gardens and nature centers (including Brooklyn Grange and New Jersey Botanical Garden), as well as classes for public, private and homeschool students, from plant/tree walks for fifth graders at Harriman State Park, to a class on tree diversity for middle- and high-school students in Prospect Park.
