I offer diligent and personal legal assistance in the Estate Planning field. I am particularly focused on helping individuals and families navigate issues regarding incapacity and disability and create plans to protect assets during life and securely transfer assets after death. I practiced law in the NY metropolitan area in the late 1980's and 90's and moved to Charleston, SC for a career change in 1998. My wife Heidi and I ran 2 successful businesses and raised 2 wonderful children for the next 16 years. When Heidi died of cancer, I changed my career again. After being a participant in my own wife's uncertainty about her end-of-life decision making, the practice of Elder law has become my calling.I was born and raised in Union, New Jersey and received a B.A. at the University of Rochester in 1981 and a law degree in 1984 from the West Virginia University College of Law. In a 14 year period, from 1984 to 1998, I practiced law in the New York metropolitan area, specializing in environmental, energy, and insurance law. I took and passed the South Carolina Bar Exam and, in May of 2017, I was sworn into the South Carolina Bar. I am also a member of the New York Bar, New Jersey Bar, and West Virginia Bar (inactive). I enjoy playing basketball and hiking. My son Sammy lives in New York City and my daughter Ellie attends college. I am an active member of the Charleston County Bar Association, the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys, Lawyers with Purpose, the Lowcountry Senior Network, the Mount Pleasant Chamber of Commerce, the downtown Exchange Club, and the Princeton Club of Charleston.
