Bedfordshire

I work with the Conservation Manager and Living Landscape Manager to oversee the development and delivery of the Trust’s five year plan objectives as they relate to the Wildlife Sites, Nature Recovery and stakeholder engagement. Within the Trust’s objectives, I focus on the co-ordination of freshwater conservation work in Bedfordshire. I am the Trust’s representative on the Upper and Bedford Ouse Catchment Partnership (UBOCP) at both core group and wider partnership meetings. This position facilitates collaboration with partners, to ensure an improved approach to managing freshwater environments, for priority habitats and species. In doing so also helping to deliver Water Framework Directive objectives. Objective delivery takes the form of habitat restoration, site surveys and advisory reports, management plan production, and managing annual work programmes on invasive species and volunteer monitoring. This requires liaising with in-house site managers and external landowners where these activities take place, utilising contractors and volunteers to deliver objectives.

This includes working with landowners to organise and deliver survey, advisory and management work to bring Wildlife Sites into positive management and favourable condition, whilst maintaining a strong and active Local Sites Partnership.I also co-ordinate wetland conservation work in Bedfordshire, on behalf of the project partners, to ensure an improved approach to managing rivers and associated wetland areas for priority habitats and species and to help deliver Water Framework Directive objectives.
