Working on projects on gender transformative approaches to youth and women engagement in agricultural food systems and associated livelihoods, financial inclusion and climate change adaptation. My current portfolio of ca. 40 million CAD consists of development and nexus projects focusing on ii) youth employment creation in agricultural value chains and ii) women's economic empowerment. This includes projects in Rwanda and South Sudan funded by Global Affairs Canada and Mastercard Foundation.

Leading a large multi-country program 'Keeping Food Markets Working'. This was a USD$ 17 million, pooled doner fund, programme implemented in nine countries in Sub Saharan Africa and South Asia. The programme provides rapid support to food system workers, SMEs supplying nutritious foods, and fresh food markets. It focused on the following themes:1. Building resilience of nutritious food SMEs2. Maintaining and reinforcing Large Scale Food Fortification in emergencies3. Safety and governance of traditional markets4. Workforce nutrition5. Urban food system governance

Managing a $3M COVID-19 emergency response project in five Sub Saharan Africa countries helping SMEs to weather the pandemic and build back better.

Arusha, Tanzania

Managed EUR 8 million Dutch MFA funded ‘’Vegetables for All’’ consortium project implemented in Northern Tanzania. The project worked to create a sustainable vegetable value chain in Northern Tanzania. • Led work planning, budget, and forecasting, and oversaw implementation.• Managed service providers and ensuring that the project delivers to the agreed output level• Oversaw a 10-month demand creation campaign aimed at promoting dietary diversity through increased consumption of vegetables. 6000 people were reached —exceeding the target of 4000 with 90 cooking demos and nutrition messages, 40,000 pupils were reached, 90 nutrition clubs were formed. 103 audio messages were developed and approximately 4 million people were reached via radio messages across northern Tanzania.• Facilitated a nutrient retention study of select dried vegetables (amaranth) to make case for the use of solar dryers to ensure all-year-round availability of vegetables.• Led the development of a learning document, to document lessons learned from implementing public-private partnership/consortium projects• Developed all annual and final project and donor reports. Exceeded forecasts for all quarters.

Responsible for ensuring that project in Kenya, Rwanda, and Mozambique (USD 4 million USAID and Dutch MFA funded project that works with SMEs) were implemented in adherence to donor and organization guidelines - includes standardizing processes and developing tools.• Responsible for overseeing monitoring across the three countries to ensure that there is uniformity.• Developed series of project implementation and management SOPs (30+) that helped standardize project management for a project across three countries• Developed a donor compliance note to ensure compliance by project implementation teams. Trained project teams and 20+ SMEs • Oversaw the development of 12 SME training manual across different topics to support SME training. • Re-organized project monitoring to ensure consistency, accuracy, efficiency, and ease of use of indicator progress reports. Developed tools and process, and trained key staff on their use.• Prepared monthly project dashboards for project teams helping to monitor the budget–spend, indicator progress, and flag risks and issues

Kenya

• The project provides technical assistance to food-based SMEs to scale up their innovations that offer safe, nutritious foods to low-income consumers (urban slums in Nairobi and other areas in Kenya). • Responsible for managing a Community of Practice (knowledge sharing and networking platform)• Documenting project progress through writing articles, quarterly newsletters, regularly updating the project’s website.• Organized 10+ SME training workshops in which over 50 SMEs received joint training across different topics (around business management, entrepreneurship, nutrition, and food safety).• Tracked indicator progress through reports for each quarter. Supported the development of reports for USAID quarterly highlights, annual reports, and USAID’s FTFMS reporting• Administered three calls for proposals, undertaken due diligence and prepared SMEs to pitch to Technical Advisory Committees for funding.
