Growing up, I always dreamed of serving my country as Special Forces or a “Green Beret”. I wanted to be part of an organization that saved lives and freed others from oppression. During my ten years in the military, first as an Infantry officer and then as a Green Beret, working with partner forces was inherently challenging albeit rewarding – success required rapport, leadership, cultural awareness and immediate valued added or mission failure was extremely likely. Special Forces is the world's premier cross-cultural team: when we deploy, we live, work and operate collectively as a cohesive team with our partner force. Consequently, cultural awareness is a vital component of cross-cultural leadership: as such, the ability to find common ground and work cohesively creates teams across cultures. In addition, language proficiency is often critical to creating trust and building teams: as a fluent Spanish speaker, my language capability has been incredibly helpful in building relationships in South America. I now hope to leverage my experience in the military to excel in the private sector.I have an insatiable desire to learn and grow. So, I am incredibly fortunate to study at The Wharton School and begin the next chapter of my life. I love almost any outdoor activity. You can probably find me training for a triathlon, skiing, walking my dog (a Bulldog), working on an outdoor project, or enjoying a cold drink on the patio.
