I will be Joining the Valves Team to replicate the changes I have implemented in Bearings that have allowed it flourish today. Already, I have recognised several small changes that can be made to allow it to start performing.

As a Production Controller in Bearings I have been able to recover the arrears position by over £3,750,000 including 2 parts that had the most arrears in the company within a year and a half of action. I have been able to implement strategies that have thus lead to the success that is Bearings today. Upon my Journey I have fixed the material shortages, increased KANBAN limitations to eliminate time lost, implemented FIFO systems, provided critical commitments on parts to customers and achieved deadlines, altered batch sizing for optimisation and subsequently allowed Bearings to consistently achieve stretched 13 week plans that satisfy the customer. There were several challenges along this journey but these have been overcome and I look forward to my next challenge in Valves where I will be replicating what I have learned and the tools I have implemented in the cell to allow it to flourish how Bearings has. Receive, inspect and book in material supplied. Coordinate daily interdepartmental meetings with ME’s, PL’s, TL’s and Supply chain alongside Sub-Contact companies. Expedite the movement of parts by means of moving orders/ stock transfers in regard to load and capacity planning. Investigate and implement ideas for quality improvements to increase productivity and reduce costs. Assignment of manpower to meet aggressive production schedules. Utilise the MRP System SAP to release work orders in accordance with the make plan.All these factors go into the day of a life as a production controller (Bearings, Impellers and Bellows) Show less

The Euro Placing Section was the last section I operated on in the Electronics VS. In my personal opinion this was the most challenging section I operated on due to the sheer amount of problems that would occur. I was able to co-project manage a problem resolution using the 5 why approach to reduce £800,000 worth of scrap components to £600,000 when operating at 100% capacity and productivity. This was the first section I was able to learn every step involved in vast detail. I supported the Electronics VS by learning other sections whilst operating on the Coating section to maintain the productivity. I was able to demonstrate my ability to learn and understand very quickly the cell and everything entailed.

Before I was furloughed due to Covid-19 I managed to get the opportunity to join the unit test section in the Electronics VS. I was able to quickly learn how to build a ECU / EMU and start testing the units. The tests consisted of lightning strike, hot and cold test and vibration test.

This job entailed me managing the tills area where I was maintaining all of the stock positions while managing the flow of customers and ensuring the way that I conducted myself coincided with the core values of Go Outdoors. I was quick to create good working relationships and developed my confidence in delegation where necessary.

This Job taught me very valuable lessons in performing this job before school every day to a high degree. Memorising the houses I must deliver to seek the most efficient route viable and reduce the total cycle time. It also allowed me to work hard on my time management skills as well as punctuality and on many occasions I was awaiting the papers to be delivered at 4am.
