Plan, implement and evaluate event recycling and organics outreach programs; work with city staff and community groups to determine program needs, recruit and direct volunteers, educate residents about recycling/organics programs and measure results of the program; develop and create curriculum and educational materials on waste reduction, recycling, composting, resource recovery and proper end disposal to present at schools, other county facilities and community events; provide technical assistance to municipalities including presenting topics at monthly Solid Waste Abatement Advisory Team meetings, coordinate outreach to communities regarding apartment recycling, compile data, process reimbursements and assist with special projects as requested by municipalities; assist with improving recycling throughout the county, such as in schools, county facilities and businesses; conduct on-site visits including: waste audits, collecting recycling and organics data, and providing outreach and information to county employees, residents, schools and businesses to improve waste management programs. Activities include: meeting with facility staff, evaluating program goals, ordering containers, providing signage, training staff and providing follow-up to evaluate program success; seek opportunities to add organics recycling programs; provide assistance to Problem Material Program Specialist during planning, set-up and operation of HHW collection events; provides disposal options and methods in person at collection events, at community events, and over the phone, for proper management of materials following guidelines prepared by the MPCA and/or Anoka County; assist with reporting duties and compile data for annual state reports including, SCORE (Select Committee On Recycling and the Environment), HHW (Household Hazardous Waste) Reporting, LRDG (Local Recycling Development Grants) and regional projects and initiatives.
