In my previous role, as an employment advisor at St. Giles Trust, I contributed to the running of the Rerouting Futures project in the East of England. The aim of the project was to support clients aged between 16 and 35  who are currently unemployed or economically active and facing barriers to employment. This included supporting clients with CVs, cover letters, and job applications. Promoting the project and getting referrals both internally from other St. Giles Projects and by networking with other organisations, attending job fairs and other employment events, and giving presentations during meetings. I would contact a new client when a referral had been received, booking an initial appointment either in person or as a team meeting, and complete entry documents, consent forms, and a risk assessment, if required. I co-facilitated workshops alongside one-to-one sessions, focused around building confidence, helping clients to recognise their transferable skills, and helping to prepare for and practice their interview skills. I have experience collecting and evaluating data and reporting it accurately in monthly Microsoft Excel performance reports.

As a Criminal Justice Recovery Worker, I have had the opportunity to expand upon the skills that I learnt as a Recovery Support Volunteer at CGL. I completed health and safety checks in accordance with policies, procedures, and legislation. Keeping staff and clients safe while on CGL premises by eliminating risk. Safeguarding vulnerable adults and children at risk, in accordance with policies, procedures, and legislation, escalating concerns, and speaking with safeguarding leading and relevant agencies, understanding the limits of confidentiality and that it should never prevent me from reporting any safeguarding risks or concerns. Due to the risk of harm and neglect to children, I completed referrals to CADS and attended a child protection conference to reduce further risk of harm to a child.As part of the criminal justice team, I held a caseload of clients, booking in appointments for them and supporting them to meet their recovery goals around reduction and abstinence, and discussing relapse prevention plans. Discharging clients when goals were met, and recovery capital had been sufficiently built to support them when leaving service.I promoted inclusivity and the values of CGL in accordance with the Equality Act 2010 and the protected characteristics. Treating staff and clients with dignity and respect. Speaking with individuals in custody specifically that may need drug or alcohol support and promoting harm reduction by supplying needle exchange supplies and naloxone kits. Assessing individuals that have tested positive for cocaine or opiate and completing triage documents if further interventions are required by CGL.Multi-agency working was part of my role, speaking with probation services, social workers, and other relevant professionals.I supervised a recovery support volunteer, having supervision every two weeks, checking on their overall progress and development plan, and identifying any goals they may have and offering support to achieve them.

I was previously a Recovery Support Volunteer based at Change Grow Live in Great Yarmouth. My responsibilities included answering telephone calls and completing administration tasks. Completing drug and bloodborne virus tests. Facilitating weekly workshops for recovery and other areas of support. Conducting initial assessments with clients, collecting data, and putting it onto an encrypted system.

In this role, I was co-facilitating online and in-person workshops designed to capture data on the Peer Advisor Programme (PAN), created by the St. Giles Trust. To help people with lived experience to get qualified and be able to support those suffering from any number of difficulties in their lives. Speaking with clients, peer advisors, and host organisations so as to get accurate data so we can improve the peer advisor program.

In my role, I learnt quickly and effectively how to use the systems used by this organisation. I applied the knowledge I had learnt in life insurance and bond investment policies to give the customer's correct information. Listening effectively to customer demand, structuring calls, and giving information in a clear and concise manner after verifying the customer carefully. I adapted to working within different teams and received positive feedback from customers and managers.

As a volunteer, I would help with introduction sessions at Great Yarmouth Library and also attend support groups. I completed Mental Health First Aid Training and Understanding Your Mental Health Training at MIND in Great Yarmouth.

I completed all mandatory training when starting in this role. Following health and safety guidelines while preparing food. I used my skills to complete different tasks, such as preparing drinks, food, cash handling, and cleaning. I offered support to new employees and helped team members.

During this time, I dealt with customer demand, queries, and handled money. Taking in deliveries and rotating stock. Completing health and safety and other relevant training.

In this role, I provided IT support to customers, employing hardware and software skills, such as replacing hardware, virus removal, and data retrieval. I would then contact the customer and take payment.
