Promoted to Store Number 2 in Heswall store. Alongside my Section Manager role, I also deputise to the Store Manager which includes stepping up in their absence.

Due to my experience in opening Broughton Park Simply Food, I have recently been appointed Food Section Manager for another new store opening on Bidston Moss Retail Park located on the Wirral.The store will be based over 8,500sqft compromising of a 7,900sqft Foodhall with In Store Bakery, and Marks and Spencer’s latest hospitality concept called Coffee-to-Go.Through new store openings I have been exposed to the following additional roles and responsibilities:-Full store recruitment including internal and external interview assessments to ensure the highest calibre candidates are recruited into the appropriate roles. This involved an external recruitment campaign utilising our careers page to collate a database of interested candidates, and then making contact when vacancies became available. -Holding induction days with internal and external members of the team to introduce the store vision and action plan. -Ensuring all necessary training is delivered correctly to ensure the team can perform at the highest standard.-Maintaining effective communication with the Local Council and our Legal team regarding all aspects of compliance including legal licences to sell Food and Alcohol.-Initial set up of the stores finances through effective cost management including delivering the initial store labour budget.

Successfully delivered the new store opening of Broughton Park; one of the most successful Simply Food openings in the business with record breaking takings of £1m in just 23 days and trading 38% ahead of plan.Based over 9000sqft, the store offered a range of Food and Instore Bakery items alongside an M&S Café.

Responsible for managing the day to day operation of the Widnes Food Hall and M&S Café, as well as duty managing the store in the store managers absence. I am accountable for 3 Section Co-Coordinators and 65 members of staff. Roles and Responsibilities:• Total accountability for all Food Safety Legal and Compliance including sign off of daily/weekly due diligence and Food Safety training• Accountability for Food Safety throughout the whole store including the M&S Café, In Store Bakery and the M&S Staff Canteen. This includes leading the twice yearly audits by M&S internal food safety auditors. Also being the stores point of contact for all Environmental Health and Pest control visits including the local environmental health officers and EcoLab pest control.• Full accountability for all Food Safety related training including upskilling the store teams to Food Safety Level 2 where required. This involves the coaching/training and completing the test papers and sign off.• Responsibility of 5 KPI’s of Sales, Service, Standards, People and Costs• Taking the role of “Service Champion” for the store and presenting to the regional store management team as a representative of our regions section manager population• Leading my teams to deliver excellent presentation standards ensuring accurate and timely implementation of corporate seasonal updates and events• Driving continuous improvement including reviewing SLA’s and making improvements• Delivering a safe and legal working environment for both customers and colleagues,including supporting the Fire Health and Safety officer to deliver the business guidelines• Contributing to the stores profitability through minimizing loses and accurate cost management including delivering the store labor budget• Recruiting the right people with the right behaviors and ensuring they get the relevant training

Responsible for the late night operation of a premier flagship M&S store. Due to the operation being outside core working hours, the support functions from store management was limited, therefore the role involved managing ambiguity with confidence which is a skill I developed throughout the late night role.Responsibilities:• Ensuring the right people were in the right place at the right time to ensure the customer experience was of exceptional quality• Supporting the day and through the night team in delivering the appropriate jobs• Coordinating and supporting my team to effectively run a busy sales floor• Ensuring we maintained our legal standards of ticketing, cleaning and date expired food removal• Forward rostering and delivering the cost plan through effective staffing and overtime spending• Ensuring all members of staff are paid correctly by effective use of the HR/payroll systems.• Supporting the Concept Liaison manager during a major store refurbishment

Responsibilities:• Gap Management – looking for gaps and correcting system if necessary• Looking into stock inaccuracies and correcting the system and probing the loss• Doing system generated stock counts to maintain the accuracy of the stock system• Contacting the depot to raise awareness of stock loss and claims• Contacting suppliers regarding any issues regarding quality etc.• Logging technical issues with IT• Looking into availability issues and informing my superiors of any problems
