• Research revolves around proposing a novel concept map called hybrid maps which eliminates the negatives of pre-existing maps used to present and teach information• Weekly/daily discussions on improvements to the experimental design and recruitment process to test for the efficacy of utilizing hybrid maps for learning and memory • Conducting experiment sessions for participants to ensure that they are going through the experiment as expected and to answer any questions that they may have• Conceptualizing participant’s responses post-experimentation and grading them for qualitative processing

• Communicate with mentees about any questions and concerns that they may have as a student through text, email, or video calls • Provide advice and guidance according to Mentor Collective’s extensive library and including any personal experience to make the most out of the mentor-mentee relationship• Professionalism but added leniency to legitimize and maintain a warm environment that is welcoming to all mentees from all backgrounds of knowledge coming into college • Being the backbone or foundation towards a mentee’s academic success through positive reinforcing strategies that encourage them to foster self-efficacy

• Utilizing the Qiime2 platform to identify, confirm, and discover bacterial species that can metabolically break down a carcinogen chemical, 1-4 dioxane • Lab-environment experience of interdependency (teamwork + independent) skills involved with working on projects• Reading/Writing comprehension of scientific writing knowledge that heavily relies on practicing these skills in preparation for higher education• Perform computational operations to compile data reports of the collected genetic material • Present the analysis of investigated bacterial species present in the Lowry Landfill site

• Grading written assignments/quizzes and providing feedback when necessary • Attending remote lectures in case the professor or students need assistance• Availability for students to ask any questions through text, email, canvas• Learning difficult concepts and teaching them in a digestible manner for students • Communication with the professor to verify my tasks
