A research project providing the first large-scale programme to validate and provide a detailed insight into sonic drilling in the UK.The Borehole Solutions Group in association with Leeds Beckett University and Innovate UK are funding a KTP Project into sonic drilling and assessing the following;* Literature review of existing research.* Sonic vs Cable Percussive drilling sample variables.* Inital development of a lboratory testing programme.

• Carry out site work; setting up drillers for both sonic, rotary, and cable percussive. Undertaking trial pits, logging soil and rock samples to BS5930/Eurocode7 with environmental monitoring. • Communicating and liaising effectively and efficiently with clients, subcontractors and assisting/working alongside the project team.• Managing Risk Assessments and Methods Statements (RAMS). • Undertaking desk studies and preparing interpretative reports for clients.

• Sample preparation in the Stable Isotope Laboratory to aid in academic staff’s research, • Responsible for the grinding of rock specimens particularly carbonated rocks and subsequent analysis utilising mass spectrometry,• This process involved grinding rock specimens with a rock drill, precise measurement on a microbalance, all while keeping an accurate log of the specimens. • Liaised closely with and built strong professional working relationships with academic staff,• Quickly familiarised myself with laboratory practices and complied with good laboratory practice

• Liaised with the central university and organised training sessions.• Continual commitment and enthusiasm led to the recruitment of more players to increase club membership from 10 to 25.
