Computer Numerical Control Machinist
During my time at NOV I have ran, set up and programmed various machines and controls, eg Slant Turn, QT20, SQ30MS (TPlus Control), Quickturn 250M (Mazatrol Smart Control) etc. Producing a wide variety of parts using both metric and imperial drawings and controls. Experienced in all aspects of turning and some aspects of milling. I have recently trained an apprentice and have thoroughly enjoyed being back training someone and being able to pass on the knowledge that I have gained over the years, it's something I feel I excel in. I have a keen interest in furthering my career onto more complex machines and undertaking more responsibilities within any future roles.
Qc Inspector / Pressure Testing / Machining
I had to use all the skills I've learnt over time in this role. I covered various departments including QC (Mechanical and Electrical), I also had to use a manual lathe daily. My main duties are to operate a hyperbaric vessel and undertake high voltage AC/DC tests usually dealing with third party inspectors working to Lloyd’s specs. I had to organise which jobs where required first when helping with QC and hyperbaric testing and assign them to the correct individuals.I also assisted Engineering with designing new jigs and fixtures for the pressure pot and was put in place to check drawings for the engineers prior to them being sent to vendors for machining.
Qc Inspector / Pressure Testing
I undertook mechanical and electrical tests and inspection of underwater products. Part of the job role includes pressure testing components and assemblies in various hydrostatic vessels. I also had to repair components and test fixtures on one of the manual lathes when required.
Computer Numerical Control Machinist
I would undertake programming an operation of the machine, repairing diamond cut wheels. I had various trainees underneath me and was sent out to different facilities to train operators on the machine. I had a small team working under me, removing the wheels and tyres from the cars, I had to organise the jobs and hand them out to the individuals. I had the opportunity to be trained up on spray painting and grasped it with both hands. Once trained I was usually painting up to 16 wheels at a time in the booth, I also mixed my own base coat and lacquer following training.
Cnc Machinist
CNC Machinist using XYZ Machines with Siemens controls, Prototak controls and a Harrison NC lathe with Fanuc controls. Post apprenticeship the supervisor left, and I had the opportunity to step into the role. I had to regularly order tools, organise and hand out jobs to each machine and deal with health & safety meetings. I also had to organise 3rd party inspectors to come into the facility and witness testing and disassembly of components. Also, I had a trainee under me in my 4th year because I had developed so quickly. Unfortunately, due to the downturn the facility shut down.
Cnc Machinist
Served first 2 years of my apprenticeship as a machinist, programming and setting up Mazak machines such as Nexus 250, Integrex IV400. Whilst there an inspector resigned, and I took on the role of inspector. The company was a small family run facility so therefore the Inspection role I assumed meant running the department myself. I embraced the challenge and covered the role until a replacement was found.
